Domestic violence incident ends in assault, shooting charges for Salem man

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 54-year-old man was arrested on domestic violence charges following a shooting at a Salem home on Wednesday, officials said.

A Marion County SWAT team responded to reports of a disturbance near 5300 State St. NE and contacted the victim, who had sustained injuries, according to deputies. The nature of these injuries is not clear.

Investigators said the suspect, Eric Palmer, had assaulted the victim before firing a rifle outside the residence. He surrendered to deputies on scene and was arrested.
