Charming music and bookstore bids ‘a hui hou’ after 40 years

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Located at the Coral Commercial Center in Kakaako, Idea’s Music and Books is an iteration of Jelly’s Comics and Books, a shop that may have been part of your teens or childhood back in the 1980s or 1990s.

“Jelly’s was wild,” said Shirley Neely, longtime Jelly’s employee and co-owner of Idea’s Music and Books. “People from all kinds, all walks of life came in; elderly people, young people, because they were doing the baseball cards, and all the ones in between.”

The charming bookstore first opened as Jelly’s along Keeaumoku Street in 1983…
