Buffalo Bishop Michael Fisher to brief Vatican on parish renewal and Chapter 11 talks

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bishop Michael W. Fisher of the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo will soon travel to the Vatican for meetings with administrative offices of the Holy See to discuss ongoing developments in Western New York.

According to officials, Fisher requested the meetings with various administrative offices at the Vatican a while ago to provide updates on the Road to Renewal process, which is reorganizing parishes into “families of parishes,” and the progress of those efforts. He is also expected to address the Chapter 11 reorganization, including the settlement with the Creditors Committee.

A diocese spokesperson said it is normal for bishops to have conversations with the administrative offices of Holy See and provide updates on what’s happening with the diocese.
