Lebanon man caught after allegedly threatening fire during SWAT standoff

LEBANON, Ore. – A domestic disturbance on Dodge Street led to a tense standoff in Lebanon on Wednesday, according to the Lebanon Police Department.

LPD officials said that officers responded at 9:53 p.m. on Sept. 17 to a call about a fight between a man and a woman. A suspect, identified as 45-year-old Jason Lloyd Knapp, confronted an officer with a knife, forcing the officer to retreat, police said. Authorities said that police relocated the woman to safety. Investigators found that Knapp had started a fire and threatened harm before he fled, prompting a search with K9 units and drones. Knapp returned and threatened to ignite a fire using natural gas, police said. The utility company shut off the gas, and nearby residents were evacuated.

The Linn County Regional SWAT team was called in when Knapp refused to surrender. After several hours, he was taken into custody with non-life-threatening injuries…
