(Reno, NV) — Officials with the City of Reno gave elder residents a chance to get rid of their unwanted and expired documents on Thursday, holding a free shredding event at the Neil Road Recreation Center.
The first event of its kind was a pivotal step in preventing a rise in identity theft or fraud cases, something Senior Engagement Coordinator Izabella Baumann said is a major problem.
Cars were lined up prior to the start time of 11 a.m. Residents had an easy time with the event, driving right up to a shredder truck and handing off their documents. It’s unclear whether they will be burned or recycled…
