Superintendent: ASD faced ‘particularly difficult week’ amid safety concerns, school leadership change

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown School District Superintendent Carol Birks said Thursday night the district has faced a “particularly difficult” week, citing several incidents that disrupted schools and raised community concerns.

On Monday, district mother Karina McField told 69 News the Ramos Elementary staff couldn’t find her 6-year-old son when she came to pick him up early. Regarding the incident with her son, McField has said she was looking for answers from the district. At the district’s board meeting on Thursday, Birks said it was a personnel matter.

“Please know we are unable to share additional details beyond the facts that have already been stated,” Birks said. She enlisted the community’s help with not adding to “speculation,” thus allowing the official process to move forward…
