Woman arrested for financial exploitation in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. – One woman is accused of intentionally and knowingly committing financial exploitation of an elderly person by taking property exceeding $2,500 for more than a year.

According to a complaint filed with the Shelby County District Court, Crystal Langston Niece, of Jemison, exploited the victim between January 2024 and February 2025.

A warrant for her arrest was issued Wednesday, September 17. She was later placed in the Shelby County Jail and charged with first-degree financial exploitation of the elderly. She was placed in jail on a $30,000 bond. She was released later that day…
