25th annual memorial for fallen Beech Grove officer raises money for ballistic windshields

BEECH GROVE, Ind. — The family of Beech Grove Police Officer Bill Toney waited 25 years for his killer to be executed in May.

The family of Elwood Police Officer Noah Shahnavaz is preparing for the next death penalty trial in Indiana. But the connection between the families of fallen officers goes deeper through their efforts to protect today’s police officers.

Every September, Dee Dee Horen’s family joins Beech Grove Police and the community for the Bill Toney Memorial. The family has raised money for good causes with softball tournaments, car shows and in recent years, cornhole competitions.
