EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Leaders of a Michigan State University program that assists children of migrant and seasonal farm workers say they’ve been notified that their federal funding has now been terminated for the 2025 fiscal year.
The program, the College Assistance Migrant Program Scholar Initiative (CAMP) at the Migrant Student Services Office, was funded by the U.S Department of Education. For MSU students, Damaris Gomez and Jaqelin Barajas, CAMP is like home away from home.
“CAMP actually like helped me transition like from coming from out of state to a new state, feeling more welcomed and at home,” said Gomez.
