Get there faster – and easier: PSTA unveils redesigned bus network launching this October

Getting around Pinellas County is about to get even easier, thanks to a newly redesigned bus network system announced by Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA). The streamlined new network, Connected Community Bus Network (CCBN), goes into effect October 26, introducing faster and more frequent routes, in addition to more connectivity throughout St. Pete and the entire county.

Many of PSTA’s most popular routes are remaining the same, such as the SunRunner from downtown St. Pete to St. Pete Beach (and plenty more in between). Other routes are getting added frequency, while some are getting enhanced connectivity to major hubs.

Regular PSTA bus riders will want to check out all the changes to see what it will mean for them. And for those who haven’t taken advantage of the affordable network of routes around the county, this may be your sign to give it a try. A minimum of five routes now operate on a frequency of under 20 minutes, making it quick and easy to get where you want to be.

More buses = more weekend fun

The two biggest changes are increased weekend frequency on most routes – which is a boon for hospitality workers who need rides to work around St. Pete or up to Clearwater – and more direct routes that help riders avoid changeovers at PSTA hubs. Transit centers in St. Pete, Pinellas Park, Largo and Clearwater will continue to serve as the main hubs for their area, with increased frequency and more regimented scheduling making the system more efficient and effective for riders…
