Realtor: Limited supply driving housing shortage, rising prices in northwest Ohio

TOLEDO, Ohio — A northwest Ohio realtor says the state is facing a worsening housing shortage as demand for affordable rentals and starter homes continues to far outpace supply, leaving families struggling to secure housing.

Donika Minick, a realtor with eastern Ohio-based Plum Tree Realty, told WTOL 11 that many renters in the state, especially those at the lowest income levels, are cost-burdened. While the Federal Reserve’s move this week to lower interest rates could help potential buyers, she said the added demand is colliding with a limited housing inventory.
