LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – In the face of proposed health insurance rate hikes as much as 54.2%, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Friday she has negotiated a lower rate.
The governor said the average rate increase is now down to 35.8%. The lower rates come on the heels of her Aug. 6 announcement that declared the proposed hikes “excessive” and “discriminatory.”
“More work remains,” Sanders said, “but this [lower rate] is a good starting point and shows that when we stand up to insurance companies, we can win tangible benefits for the people of our state.”…
