MARRERO, La. (WVUE) – A gas leak that forced the evacuation of multiple homes in Marrero Friday afternoon (Sept.19) has been repaired, according to Jefferson Parish officials.
The incident began around 3 p.m. in the 600 block of Avenue F, when a vehicle struck and ruptured a gas line. Firefighters quickly evacuated approximately 20 people from 10 homes within a half-block radius as a safety precaution.
The leak also led to street closures and expanded evacuations in the surrounding area. Atmos Energy crews responded to the scene and repaired the damaged line. The Jefferson Parish Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office were also on site to assist with the response and ensure public safety…
