Colorado Springs Tow Truck Worker Shot During Vehicle Recovery Near Memorial Park

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — A routine vehicle recovery turned violent Tuesday night when a tow truck worker was shot near downtown Colorado Springs, sending him to the hospital as police search for the suspect.

The Confrontation

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, a group of employees from a local recovery company were loading a vehicle onto a tow truck shortly before 9 p.m. when a man approached them.

The suspect reportedly became aggressive, ripping cameras off the truck. As the tow truck began to leave the area, the suspect allegedly fired “multiple rounds,” striking the vehicle and one of the workers.

Scene Near Memorial Park

The shooting happened in the area of 700 East Moreno Avenue, west of Memorial Park. Officers responding to the scene found several shell casings scattered nearby.

Police then located the workers at a residence and discovered the victim, who had been shot. Officers provided medical aid before the man was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed his injuries are non-life-threatening.
