Leesburg to Issue School Zone Speeding Fines Starting Monday

The Town of Leesburg will begin handing out fines to speeders caught by the new speed cameras at Ball’s Bluff Elementary, John W. Tolbert Jr. Elementary and Loudoun County High School starting Monday.

Fines of $100 will be issued during designated hours when school speed limits apply, in accordance with Virginia law. Those are in effect during the arrival or dismissal of students, when the warning signs are flashing.

The fines are part of the Leesburg Police Department’s speed safety program. Launched on Aug. 21. The cameras have been operating for the past month and violators have received warnings by mail…
