American Magic HQ will be much more than a sailing team. Aerospace manufacturing is coming

The $20 million American Magic headquarters at the Port of Pensacola will not just be a sailing team base but also a manufacturing facility for maritime and aerospace work.

Work at Warehouse No. 10 is progressing rapidly, and the New York Yacht Club American Magic sailing team is preparing to move into the 56,000-square-foot facility in early November. The team is already working in a temporary setup out of Warehouse No. 9, doing work for private clients and hiring locals, according to American Magic Chief Operating Officer Tyson Lamond.

“What we’re doing over there right now is a lot of aerospace work, and so the way that they manufacture is very similar to the way we manufacture the boats,” Lamond said. “So we’re able to train those guys up on these (aerospace) projects. And then when we get over to working on our boats over here, it’s going to help us have a bigger, skilled workforce.”…
