Investigators testify about phone, Apple Watch evidence in day three of Van Patten murder trial

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Friday marked the third day of testimony in the trial of Dakota Van Patten, who is charged with first degree murder, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony in the death of Melody Hoffman.

Hoffman was a 20-year-old woman from Marion. Three people found her body at Lily Lake in Amana on the morning of February 18, 2024.
