Global “Park(ing) Day” movement back in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Local non-profit Better Block SGF is joining the global Park(ing) Day movement again this year to encourage the public to reimagine public spaces as more people-centric, social, and connective.

This year’s installment will be at South and Walnut in Downtown Springfield, in front of the new Ozarks Farm Stop. Ozark Farm Stop will be hosting its official ribbon-cutting this afternoon at 4:00 pm during the Better Block installment.

The parking spaces transformed into space for people will include food trucks from Xurros and Tiny Greens to Go throughout the day. There will also be a mix of games, seating, and greenery, including turf, planter boxes, and Better Block’s signature colorful cubes.

“We want to invite everyone to stop by, grab a coffee, eat a churro, and enjoy the spacewhile it’s here,” said Justin Wagler, Managing Director for Better Block SGF. “It’s fun, free, and a reminder that small changes can make a big impact in how we think about publicspaces.”

Better Block SGF has participated in Park(ing) Day since 2019, bringing these activations all over Springfield. You can visit this year’s installation on September 19th from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm…
