ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office helicopter experienced a dangerous incident when someone shone a laser at them during a flight back in August, which struck one of the deputies on board. This isn’t the first time police helicopters have been targeted.

What began as a routine operation on Albuquerque’s west side quickly turned serious, putting lives at risk both in the air and on the ground. Deputy Jeremy Sanchez explained, “At that time, essentially, as we’re just doing some simple orbits, we saw kind of a blue light coming up from the co-pilot or the left side of the cabin.”
