Comedy legend Steve Martin has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the postponement of his “Dukes of Funnytown!” tour dates in Virginia Beach and Richmond, Virginia.
The 80-year-old comedian announced the news on Instagram shortly before the scheduled Friday performance, expressing his disappointment and promising to return when circumstances allow. His co-star, Martin Short, was unaffected.
Ticket holders will receive refunds for the canceled shows. The tour is scheduled to resume October 4th in Florida, a date already rescheduled due to Short’s previous bout with COVID-19 earlier this year. The duo will continue their tour across the US, with stops planned in cities including Las Vegas, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Austin, culminating in Cleveland in April 2026.
Martin’s announcement was met with an outpouring of support from fans, many expressing their well wishes and eagerly anticipating the rescheduled performances.
Both Martin and Short recently attended the Emmy Awards with their “Only Murders in the Building” co-star Selena Gomez. The popular Hulu series, now in its fifth season, is releasing new episodes weekly.
While nominated for seven Emmys this year, including a nomination for Short, the show did not win any awards. Since its premiere, “Only Murders” has garnered 56 Emmy nominations and seven wins.
