SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) — South Carolinians will be continuing a years long tradition Saturday, as The South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is set to hold their 36th annual Beach Sweep.
Since 1988 good Samaritans have gathered every third Saturday in September to clean debris from beaches and waterways as a part of the International Coastal Cleanup.
According to the organizers, this tradition is one of the state’s largest volunteer cleanup events and it brings together groups from all walks of life to help protect and preserve one of South Carolina’s most valuable resources…
