Condado Tacos honors 15-year-old fan with new mural

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On Sept. 25, guests to Condado Tacos in Grand Rapids can attend a new artwork reveal event that honors and represents Kailand “Kai” Burri, a longtime fan of the taco restaurant who died in July at 15 years old.

“His parents said he was always the first to offer a hug,” Alyssa Martin, art director at Condado Tacos, said. “So we gave him a very big heart right in the center.”

Holland festival provides free fun for foster families

The artwork reveal also serves as a benefit dinner to raise funds for West Michigan Therapy Dogs, a Grand Rapids based organization important to Kai and his family.

“They’re taking their grief and they’re using it to help others,” Martin said. “That’s just something really amazing.”

The new mural by artist Elliot Chaltry captures Kai’s resilient and free-spirited attitude with a ghost pepper character surrounded by stylish, multi-colored shark companions…
