NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In September 2024, Tennessee experienced one of the biggest disasters in the state’s history from Hurricane Helene. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is encouraging residents to be prepared before disaster strikes and, when it does happen, be able to respond.
September is National Preparedness Month, and TEMA’s Ready to Recover initiative is to give residents & businesses of Tennessee the tools to prepare before emergencies, and after an event, recover stronger.
TEMA’s Communications Director Kristin Coulter and Community Relations Officer Melissa Egan came by WKRN’s Weather Authority Live show to share the steps everyone needs to take to prepare ahead of a disaster. “The hours, days, after an event are stressful and emotional,” said Egan, “our goal is to encourage residents to take small steps in preparing before an event happens.”…
