Hillsborough County will unveil a new Gold Star Family Monument on October 11 to honor families who have lost a loved one in military service. The dedication will take place at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins Jr. Museum and is free and open to the public.
According to a Hillsborough County press release, the ceremony will include a performance by the Armwood High School JROTC Color Guard, a rifle salute, and taps. Annette Kirk, National President of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., will deliver the keynote address.
The monument, funded and coordinated in part by the Woody Williams Foundation, features four panels titled Homeland, Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice. After the ceremony, attendees may gather for refreshments…
