Pedestrian killed in Wilmington crash after being struck by car on West Newport Pike

Wilmington, DE – A 64-year-old man was killed Thursday evening after being struck by a car while crossing West Newport Pike, Delaware State Police said.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of West Newport Pike and Rothwell Drive. Investigators said the pedestrian was crossing from south to north and had entered the westbound left lane when he was hit by a Nissan Sentra traveling westbound through the intersection. Witnesses told police the traffic light was green for the Sentra at the time.
