In Edmond, the Deer Creek School District has announced a shutdown of two of its schools, Deer Creek Middle School and Prairie Vale Elementary School, due to power outages. The decision to cancel classes on Friday was a direct result of the loss of electricity, as confirmed by district officials. While these campuses will remain closed, instruction at the other schools in the district will proceed as planned, according to KFOR.
The outages were caused by storms that hit the Oklahoma City metro area early Friday morning.
