Friday, September 19, marks the National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
National Missing in Action and Prisoners of War Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday of September each year. The POW/MIA flag originated in 1971 during the Vietnam War and was driven by the wives of missing service members.
