ROCKFORD — The former Javon Bea Hospital-Rockton would be transformed into a hub for affordable apartments, accessible health care services, multiple businesses and community resources under a vision just starting to take shape with the new owners.
The vision put forward Saturday by Pastors Melvin and Sheila Brown of Kingdom Authority International Church and their development team represents a major undertaking for the 708,849-square-foot hospital property at 2400 N. Rockton Ave. on the city’s west side.
The initial plan, which the owners emphasized will evolve over time, was unveiled during an invite-only meeting inside the auditorium on the property. The group said there will be future town hall-style events for public feedback…
