New Syracuse dispensary to reinvest majority of profits locally

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Community leaders, advocates, and residents gathered this weekend to celebrate the grand opening of Thrive Syracuse, a new cannabis dispensary that’s pledging to reinvest more than half its profits directly into the local community.

Unlike many dispensaries that focus solely on sales, Thrive Syracuse has built its business model around giving back. After startup costs are repaid, 51% of profits will go to the Center for Community Alternatives (CCA), a statewide nonprofit that provides legal advocacy, reentry support, youth programs, and healing-centered services for families affected by mass incarceration and criminalization.

“This is about repairing harm caused by decades of the drug war,” said David Condliffe, Executive Director of CCA. “Too often, profits from new industries like cannabis bypass the very neighborhoods most impacted. Thrive Syracuse will change that.”…
