Women’s Golf Eyes Final 18 at Vandy

The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team is through 36 holes at the Mason Rudolph Championships in Franklin, Tenn. The Mocs shot 302 today for a 596 total at Vanderbilt Legend Club’s South Course. That puts the squad in 12th, one stroke behind ULM in 11th and five ahead of Georgia Southern in 13th.

Breakdown

  • Chattanooga got off to a slower start today beginning on No. 10 again. The counters were 8 over at the turn and couldn’t bring it back on the front side.
  • The final nine had two birdies – Olivia Wood at Nos. 4 & 7. The counters were 10 over on this side.
  • The Mocs are just five strokes out of the top 10 (10th-Western Kentucky). The program has four top 10 finishes in 11 prior visits to the Mason Rudolph: 5th (2016), 6th (2022), 7th (2014) & 10th (2019).
  • Wood’s 71 is her first collegiate par or better card. It came in her 5th round.
  • Five birdies for the squad today. Wood led with three. She has seven over her two cards which leads the team by one over Fernandez-Tagle.
  • Wood took moving day seriously. She jumped 26 spots on the leaderboard.
  • Score by side – Holes 1-9: +19 | 10-18: +10
  • Birdies by round (counting cards) – 1st: 11 | 2nd: 5 | Total: 16.
