A high-speed chase on Interstate 24 in Murfreesboro led to the arrest of Shawn Anglin Jr., according to the Murfreesboro Police Department. Anglin, who was apprehended on Thursday, is accused of nearly striking an officer with his car door and ramming a patrol vehicle as he fled the scene. The incident was initially sparked when a vehicle connected to several local crimes was identified by a license plate reader in an Aldi parking lot.
An officer attempted to engage with Anglin in the lot on Robert Rose Drive; however, when asked to exit his vehicle, Anglin reportedly reversed suddenly, narrowly missing an officer and colliding with the patrol car before escaping. This account was detailed by WKRN, which added that the subsequent pursuit concluded with Anglin crashing into another patrol car on the interstate.
As a result of the crash, Anglin was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. His charges include two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault, among others.
