California theme park’s terrifying new attraction will ‘physically affect’ guests

It’s not every day you get chased by a nightmarish clown through a funhouse littered with corpses — but for an increasing number of people, they wish it would happen more often.

Want proof? Just look at the wait times for the “Terrifier” house at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, which have been averaging 90 minutes since the event opened on Sept. 4. It is, by all accounts — including from the creative team at Universal — the single worst haunted house ever designed for the event, based on the $100 million-grossing “Terrifier” film franchise. But this definition of worst doesn’t mean the worst quality. It means the bloodiest, goriest, most disturbing attraction fans have ever seen.

The house is a smash hit: disturbing, gag-inducing, and somehow simultaneously absolutely delightful. And it’s satiating an increasing fan appetite for bigger, badder, scarier entertainment…
