JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – If you drive in Mississippi, you’ll likely have to navigate a roundabout at some point.

However, that was not the case until September 19, 1991, when WLBT reported that the state’s first roundabout was being planned near the entrance to the Jackson airport. The traffic circle replaced a traditional intersection on Old Brandon Road.

Most Mississippi drivers had never heard of a roundabout, so it took some explaining…
