The New Iberia community is coming together Monday, Sept. 22, to help make a local child’s birthday one to remember.
Nine-year-old Fisher Whitaker, who is currently undergoing cancer treatments, will be honored with a drive-by birthday parade beginning at 5 p.m. on San Jacinto Circle. Neighbors, friends, and local agencies, including police and fire departments, are expected to participate in the celebration.
Organizers said the parade is meant to bring joy to Fisher ahead of his next round of chemotherapy. To ensure his safety before treatment, supporters are asked not to make direct contact.
