West Texas Weather Alert: Highs in 90s, Storms Shift East Today

Lubbock, TX – Residents across the South Plains can expect a hot and sunny Sunday, with only a slight chance of storms confined to eastern counties, according to the National Weather Service in Lubbock.

Forecasters said dry and warmer southwest winds will push storm chances well off the Caprock. Most of the region, including Lubbock, Levelland, Plainview, and Brownfield, will see afternoon highs in the low to mid-90s. The warmest spots, such as Aspermont, Jayton, and Guthrie, may reach the upper 90s.

According to the National Weather Service, a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms remains in far eastern areas, including Paducah and Aspermont, but the majority of the South Plains will stay dry. Skies are expected to remain mostly clear, with plenty of sunshine throughout the day…
