Wichita, KS – Scattered thunderstorms are moving across central Kansas this morning, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning that could impact commuters. The National Weather Service in Wichita issued the alert early Thursday, warning conditions could linger through 9 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service, the storms are drifting eastward from Great Bend and Hutchinson toward Salina and Wichita. Hazards include cloud-to-ground lightning, wind gusts reaching 35 mph, and periods of heavy rainfall that may lead to localized flooding.
