Birmingham police make 42 arrests, seized 11 guns in week-long crime crackdown

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Police Department’s Special Operations Bureau has reported significant enforcement activity during the week of September 15 to September 21, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and improve the quality of life in the city.

The Special Enforcement Division made a total of 42 arrests, including 27 felony arrests and 15 misdemeanor arrests. Officers also seized 11 firearms, two of which were reported stolen, and conducted 170 traffic stops, resulting in 275 citations, including 37 for speeding. Additionally, three vehicles were impounded, with one identified as stolen.

The department’s efforts extended to narcotics enforcement, with substantial seizures including 530 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 28 grams of fentanyl, and various quantities of other drugs such as marijuana, oxycodone, and synthetic marijuana. In total, $2,940 in currency was seized…
