New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that the New York State Police have issued 700+ tickets and seized 140 vehicles following three enforcement operations on the Thruway.
Enforcement Operations on the New York State Thruway
The New York State Police (NYSP) Troop T, in partnership with the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA), seized 140 vehicles and issued 711 tickets following three enforcement operations on the New York State Thruway system, according to a press release from the Governor’s Office.
The enforcement details were conducted in the Lower Hudson Valley and Western New York regions. Each detail focused on “persistent toll violators”, who intentionally cover, obstruct, and deface license plates, or use fake “temp tags” and drivers who use fraudulent or “ghost” plates to avoid the cameras used to collect tolls without stopping.
Enforcement Detail Locations in New York
The NYSP conducted its first enforcement detail on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, along the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, impounding 53 vehicles, 24 of which were for unpaid tolls and fees, and issuing 231 tickets.
The second detail happened on the same bridge on Monday, July 21, 2025, and resulted in the NYSP impounding 61 vehicles, 25 for toll evasion, and resulted in 221 tickets…
