An early morning blaze in a Gwinnett County home on Overlook Path Way SE in Lawrenceville resulted in a daring rescue and three hospitalizations. The fire, which began before dawn yesterday, saw firefighters from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services pull a trapped individual from an upstairs bedroom, as reported by FOX5 Atlanta. Another person, before the firefighters arrived, had already leaped from a second-story window to escape the inferno.
Having arrived on the scene, Gwinnett County police discovered the residence engulfed with flames emanating from the garage area. A statement obtained by AccessWDUN detailed the response: “Firefighters deployed a hose line and a 24-foot extension ladder to a second-story window on the front of the house for rescue. Firefighters made entry through the window and searched the room.” During their search, they located a victim and extracted them through the window to medical staff waiting below.
The incident has left five people without a home, now under the aid of the American Red Cross. Meanwhile, the three individuals rescued were transported to local hospitals, with one reported in critical condition and the others with non-critical injuries.
