Oklahoma family unearths large brown diamond at Arkansas’s Crater of Diamonds State Park

MURFREESBORO, Ark. (KATV) — One Oklahoma family went home with a rare brown diamond weighing nearly three carats after unearthing it in Arkansas’s Crater of Diamonds State Park.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, Raynae Madison and her family traveled down from Cookson, Okla., to celebrate her nephew’s birthday, but not before making a pit-stop at the Crater of Diamonds State Park.

The family, equipped with their digging kit and sand-sifting tools, traveled to the north side of the park’s 37.5-acre search area. After digging a few buckets and sifting dirt, Madison noticed an “unusual oblong, shiny stone.”…
