Spoonbill Watering Hole and Restaurant is a beacon of history and vibrant contemporary nightlight in downtown Lafayette, according to an editor at Southern Living magazine.

Spoonbill’s brightly-lit patio is ideally positioned to draw in diners right where Jefferson Street and Lee Avenue meets, making this lively spot something of a welcome center for downtown. That’s what attracted Southern Living assistant editor Symiah Dorsey, who arrived at Spoonbill looking for memorable summer night vibes and fresh Gulf seafood.

At this destination restaurant, “Gulf oysters, shrimp, and fish are elevated by global flavors,” wrote Dorsey, who enjoyed broiled oysters with roasted jalapeño butter, prickly pear cactus, and cotija cheese, and grilled fish with salsa macha and coconut rice…
