BOISE – Mayor Lauren McLean has announced the appointment of Sara Arkle as the new head of Boise’s Department of Parks and Recreation. Arkle, who has spent the last decade enhancing the city’s park system, is set to take over from retiring Director Doug Holloway on November 2, 2025, pending City Council confirmation on September 30, 2025.
“Sara’s impact on our parks and open space speaks for itself and sets her apart as a candidate for the position,” said Mayor McLean. “Her knowledge of our expansive parks and open space portfolio and commitment to high-quality recreational programs for our community make her the right person for the job, and I look forward to her leadership.”
