Elk rut is underway in Estes Park, Colorado, and that means that the many elk that typically reside in mountainous terrain found around the northern Colorado town have taken of local parks, streets, and golf courses as they congregate in search of mates.
One aspect of this natural event that makes for quite the spectacle is how male elk will spar and fight in order to assert dominance and improve their chances with the ladies. Spotting bull elk charge at each other to lock their antlers in a clash is no rare sight, with video footage that’s gone viral in recent weeks capturing that intense moment.
