New restaurant at Cherapa Place draws on S.D-inspired menu

The newest addition to the downtown dining scene features pheasant, bison and other local meats and fish.

Rivage Oak Kitchen opened today inside the original Cherapa Place office building — the Apex — in downtown Sioux Falls.

“It’s beautiful in here,” said Devon Giesen, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Ashley. “Staffing is looking good, both front and back of the house, and the menu is complete.”

The space has been remodeled extensively, said Anne Haber of Pendar Properties, developer of Cherapa Place.

“There’s been a significant amount of restoration,” she said. “Every appliance in the kitchen is new.”

The menu is South Dakota-inspired, with options for lunch and dinner, plus happy hour.

The lunch menu is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“We’re pulling in a lot of what South Dakota has to offer, using chokecherries in both the bar and food menu. We have pheasant, venison, bison tenderloin and ground bison, local cuts for steak and local fish,” Giesen said. “There also are lighter salads and small-plate options, and stuff people around this area are used to.”

The dinner menu, which also is served all day Saturday, features a variety of small plates, including pheasant bruschetta and lamb chislic, while the entrees include choices like three steak dishes, a bison burger, a Wagyu burger, leg of pheasant and duck a’la orange.

A happy hour menu with drink specials and a selection of appetizers will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before closing those nights…
