Missing 21-year-old found dead in Great Smoky Mountains, officials say

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WVLT) – Ryan Lakes, the 21-year-old missing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, has been found dead, according to the National Park Service.

Park rangers were searching for the missing man after he was last seen in Nashville on Thursday, and his car was found in the park on Saturday.

Lakes was described as a white male who is five foot five tall and 130 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing dark colored gym shorts, a dark shirt, brown tennis shoes and a black backpack before being found…
