Much of the country saw little movement in prices at the gas pump over the past week, as demand remains tepid. According to AAA, Monday’s national average increased by a fraction of a cent to $3.18 per gallon. New York State’s average price fell by more than two cents to $3.23, and the average price in Chautauqua County decreased by nearly two cents and is now $3.30. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.21 and $3.31, respectively.
AAA adds that oil prices have barely budget, which has also helped keep gas prices stable. As of Monday morning, oil was trading in the mid $60s per barrel. According to data from the Energy Information Administration, gas demand rose by approximately 381,000 barrels per day.
