Kalamazoo officers seize cocaine, cash, and guns across three locations

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — In an effort to target gun violence and illegal drugs in the area, multiple divisions of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) arrested several people found with illegal firearms and/or drugs on Sept. 18.

In total, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) arrested four people across two locations, and found a firearm and evidence of drug sales at a third location that day, according to KDPS.

Three 18-year-old men were arrested on West North Street near Elm Street after officers found two firearms equipped with extended magazines during a traffic stop. All three were then taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail where they will be facing felony charges, police said.

Following a search at a residence on Trimble Avenue south of East Main Street, KVET and CRT members said they found approximately four ounces of cocaine, two handguns, one rifle, evidence of drug sales, and a large amount of cash believed to be profits of drug sales…
