PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Portage is getting ready to start work on the new Farmer’s Market and need to make a land purchase immediately.
A city memo states they need to buy three-hundredths of an acre from Comerica Bank that juts into the site of the new open market on what is now a parking lot behind the Portage Zhang Senior Center.
They are getting a good deal, just a dollar for the 1,200 square foot property, but it comes with some strings. The city must take the site as is, pay for all the paperwork, and agree not to install any ATM’s at either the market or the Senior Center…
