As I was departing Marco Island early one morning last week, I noticed traffic backing up inbound on Collier Boulevard earlier than usual and well before 8 a.m.
The added traffic is due to the major intersection work at Collier Boulevard and Barfield Drive, dubbed by the city as “Marco Island’s most challenging intersection.”
For those that may have missed our earlier reporting, in April, Marco Island City Council awarded a $4.7 million contract for improvements to Fort Myers-based Coastal Site Development. The contract calls for additional lanes and enhanced safety features and the extending of turn lanes.
