News10NBC Investigates: Rochester Broadway Theatre League warns of inflated ‘Hamilton’ ticket prices and high pressure on resale sites

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Broadway hit “Hamilton” opens in Rochester in November and the head of the Rochester Broadway Theatre League is worried about online ticket sales.

“The ticketing industry has designed ways to confuse the consumers, especially older consumers into thinking they have to pay too much for a ticket,” said Arnie Rothschild, chair of the Rochester Broadway Theatre League.

The most expensive seat in the house is $181 but News10NBC found an opening night ticket selling online for more than $900.

Berkeley Brean, News10NBC: “I looked at some of your $70 tickets up there in the corner and the secondary market has them selling for a little bit more than $70, but not outrageous. What’s the problem then?”…
